Sewing: Dress and Bloomers

Hi there folks... it is the most beautiful autumn day for Mothers Day today! The sun is shining and here in the mountains the trees have the most brilliant red, orange and yellow leaves. Apart from the cold, I absolutely LOVE living in the mountains, especially during Autumn, where it seems that everything is so full of colour.

On the creative side, I have been busy as always and have about 10 projects on the go at any one time. I just finished a cute little outfit, not sure who it is going to yet, but my niece Macie did a good job of modelling for me anyway!

It's a tiny bit big for her but you get the drift. It is a really sweet summer dress or could easily be worn in winter with a long sleeved shirt and tights underneath...

It didn't take alot of material, just 2 types and made in panels that are gathered to give it that "full" look so it doesn't just drop straight down.

What little girl dress would be complete without bloomers for the underneath! Maybe I am picky, but if a little girl still wearing a nappy has a dress on, she ABSOLUTELY has to have little bloomers over the top. Just tucks it all in nicely I say...

Of course a sweet little frill on the backseat adds an extra dimension of cuteness!

I am making some cute patchwork skirts at the moment with matching applique tops, so I will put those up when I am done.

For some more cuteness!

I quickly made up these cute teddy bear ears headband for my neice...she obviously likes them!

She calls them her "tebby bears"...cute I say.

Hope it isn't too cold where you are this week are we slowly descend into winter...but then again, winter can be beautiful!

Enjoy your week!

Fairy Homes and Crochet Hearts!

It's a bleary day here so I have been holed up inside for most of the afternoon playing around with some of my pattern ideas and sketching up some items I hope to either knit/sew or crochet in the near future! (although, it does seem like the "near future" never comes...life is so busy!)

Either way, I have managed to make a bit of a dent on my project list this week and get through some of my orders! Here is what I have been working on.....

A cute little fairy home! I made it little so I could test out some pattern ideas...I will make some changes and make them bigger for playing with!

It is cute nice and small though!

I finished another crochet hat this week for a friend's daughter...

I have become slightly addicted to embellishing these hats..they make making them soooo much fun!

I made some tiny hearts to embellish some hats, now I have become so addicted to making them! they are quick and easy.

This light coral colour is my current favourite...

classic red!

These are flowering in our garden this morning! I told my husband that they look so happy!!!

The bush is covered with buds so I will take a pic when they are all out.

That's it from me this week....I am going to spend this week finalising my current orders so I can remake the fairy house, whip up some gnomes and perhaps a fairy or two to go with it! I know some cute little girls that will LOVE to get their hands on them....

Bye for now!

Overflowing Thankfulness!

I had been thinking over the last day or two what I was going to put on my blog today - I have a million things I could use and so many pictures to show you but I didn't want to go overboard...I was walking through our garden this afternoon trying to decide with my mind swimming (or maybe drowning!) in thoughts. I then suddenly realised how good blogging can be...inadvertently it helps me to focus on all the great things going on in life...the beautiful things, the wonder and inspiration I found around me as I go through what can sometimes be monotonous, everyday life. So, to that end, I thought I would show you a few things today that I am so thankful for...

These beautiful flowers hubby came back from Bunnings with..so small yet so perfect!

These cute vintage blocks I bought yesterday when I was at the museum. They are just begging for chubby little hands to knock them over...

My new wool basket! It was originally an old potato basket but husband bought it for me today at a local antique shop to store all my wool which I have scattered everywhere!

My almost-pieced together baby jumper..made from 4ply wool, it is so soft, yet so warm for a little one. Just needs sewing up and embellishing with some lovely flowers and it will be ready for it's ta-da moment!

So, as you can see, thankfulness and beauty can be found all around us, even when the rest of life is not quite so beautiful. I am determined to focus on that this week as I go about my busy life!

What can you be thankful for today??

Family and Crochet Love!

It has been a beautiful weekend! Filled with the simple pleasures of life that I love - family, children and the satisfaction that I am now onto my edging of my crochet blanket!!

My parents, sisters, husband and the kids spent Saturday at the river. It was lovely just lolling about in the water, watching the kids play and just enjoying each other's company. We had one slight scare when husband's wedding ring came off in the water. As the river was moving so fast, there was no hope he could find it. I was so disappointed, but just resigned myself to the fact that my husband would now be ring-less. However, being the determined man he is, he looked and looked and found it! Total fluke and miracle! Needless to say, it went straight into my bag.

The road on the way into the reserve

What is cuter than a little cherub enjoying splashing about!

My niece Macie enjoying the water. Isn't she adorable?

I can do it myself!

My adorable niece Marlee! We call her Moose. Don't know why!

Once more...totally adorable!

cutie!

Myself (on the left) and my two sisters. What could be better!

the blanket is really starting to take shape! The squares are all put together and I have started the edging (I think it will take me a while as I have visions of a thick band to go around the outside)

I have used Patons 100% wool for all three colours (will get the colours to you soon), although I do remember that the darker blue is called "Periwinkle" - I love that word!!! Needless to say, I will be working furiously over the next week or so to get the edging finished. Not that any blankets are needed at the moment with all the hot weather we have been having!

Today will be a "around the house" day...husband is servicing my car, groceries need doing and all the other not-so-exciting stuff!

If you have a chance....go to http://knittinglemonade.blogspot.com/ - it is such a nice blog with so many wonderful ideas!!!

Have a great Sunday wherever you are!
